ABOUT
Rabo de Foguete is a music and outdoor arts company based in Norwich, UK, delivering a range of work and projects across music, carnival and street theatre. Rabo is a platform for the work of musician and carnival artist, Marcus Patteson, bringing the spirit of carnival to a range of music-driven performances, from stage to parade and static street shows. Marcus' work uses the inverted world of carnival and carnivalesque to reflect and comment upon the human condition.

Carnival: Marcus has been teaching and leading community Samba bands since 2000, when he started Norwich Samba with Paul Weston. Projects and groups since have included the Big Bloco Project (creating a 100+ band that brought together members of other regional Samba bands, working with JP Courtney and Hej Jones) and Bloco Foguete. He has developed and been artistic or musical director for a number of carnival shows, including Celestial Festival Carnival (2003), Back to the Streets (2009), Spooky City (2014-16), Norwich Circus 250 (2018), the World We Live In (2019) and the Norwich Lord Mayor's Procession (2022, 2023). In 2023, he oversaw the delivery of the whole procession for Norwich City Council as part of NORCA's team. Most recently he has taken on developing a new Samba band in Lowestoft for the Marina Theatre.

Outdoor arts: Originally focussed on a carnival band, and street shows such as Malandro and Voodoo Hoodoo, Marcus is now working on a range of shows and projects in partnership with other artists, most recently with Paul Goldsmith and Katherine Vince (Twisted Reality Productions), on the Ulysses Street Show. A new show is in development.

Music: After 10 years leading the band Rabo de Foguete, Marcus' latest project is Bird Service, which released its first album in 2021.
